Vision Fasts

Vision Fasts

Vision Fasts, also known as Vision Quests have origins in traditional cultures around the world. The  style of Vision Fasts that I have learned comes from The School of Lost Borders and before them Native peoples of the Americas

Within the realm of Rites of Passage, they are initiatory or threshold experiences, used to mark major life transitions. They may have themes, such as a "Womens' Fast" a fast for  "Adulthood" or "Death & Dying" or they may be "Open Fasts" where diverse individuals can bring their unique intentions.

Vision Fasts are ceremonies that take place in nature, far from the distractions of our everyday living, typically including times of solitude as well as community recognition. They are wonderful, and very challenging.

I have facilitated Vision Fasts for people of all ages, 13 to 80 years old, from all different kinds of backgrounds. Sometime folks in the group are complete strangers. Other times I facilitate vision fasts for intact communities.

While my facilitation is often in groups, couples Vision Fasts are potent and possible! I love inter-generational Fasts. Mother & Daughter Fasts have been on my list of dreams for a long time.
